Why is China not supporting Russia over the Russia-Ukraine Crimea conflict?

Déjà vu?

This is probably not a huge factor in modern politics, but it is noteworthy to mention that [Repbulic of] China had historically lost territory to Russia in a similar fashion, ie an invasion then a "referendum": Tuva aka Tannu Urankhai in 1914, Outer Mongolia in 1912, Xinjiang in 1940s (a Chinese general took the initiative to recover by force). Before that, [Qing Dynasty] China lost a lot of land to Russia via outright annexation, including most of the Qing (Manchurian) homeland.
